The interface and Halloween theme in Hexa Sort Trick or Treat create a slightly creepy atmosphere.
In Hexa Sort Trick or Treat, you complete the arrangement of all hexa blocks in the correct color and required position, filling the board without making any errors or overlapping, to open the next level. You win when you pass every level. If you place it wrong, run out of moves, or cannot complete it, you have to play that level again. You use drag-and-drop hexa blocks from the inventory area to the desired position on the board.
Drag and drop color-coded hexagons
The main interface of Hexa Sort Trick or Treat displays a hexagonal grid containing empty spaces for blocks. Next to it is an area containing hexa blocks waiting to be placed; each block has a color code. The screen displays the level number, the percentage of the board that is complete, and sometimes a timer or the number of remaining turns (if the level has a time limit). There may be an undo, reset, or shuffle button to re-arrange the blocks if you get stuck.
The gameplay revolves around arranging each hexa block by color to fit into the corresponding box. Once the pieces are placed correctly, they are fixed and cannot be moved, so you have to think ahead. At higher levels, the board will feature more complex shapes, non-adjacent empty places, or more limited placement.
On some levels, you can use support items such as hints to indicate the next logical box, swaps to change the positions of two blocks, or shuffles to change the position of blocks in the inventory, helping you get out of a stuck situation. Using power-ups often has a limit or costs in-game resources.
